The rain begins to fall. I hear it on the roof and the skylights. I close my eyes and hear the beats. I try to follow the rhythm that it is creating. This is a great distraction for me as I need to start my day. I have many things to do but yet the rain calms me.
I do not know why it does. However, I watch the rain hit the deck. At first, it looks like a painter. The rain looks like paint drops all over the deck. A spot here, a spot there until the entire deck is covered with water. This makes the deck shiny. My ridged deck now looks as smooth as glass. The deck starts to change its colors. It begins to take the colors that are around it and begins to reflect them. It shares with me its new look.
I look at the street. We drive cars on it leaving dirt and grime. It begins to look clean. Water running down the street to the drain. Watching the rain take with it all of marks of the previous days of wear. When the rain stops the street looks new, still damp from all the water. It is like breathing new life to the street.
I enjoy watching the rain, but I love the smell of the outside when it stops. Everything has that clean smell. I stand outside and just take it all in, deep breaths and close my eyes. That smell makes you feel so good inside. Words fail me when it comes to describing this wonderful scent. It helps me realize that when things are at its most chaotic, they do calm down. When they do we should stop and take a breath, refocus and then begin again.
Keep Rambling .....
